Interlachen Real Estate’s Century of Success

Interlachen Country Club’s origins span all the way back to 1909 when members of the Bryn Mawr Golf Club pondered the possibility of creating a new golf club (no pun intended). They pooled their resources to acquire 146 acres of farmland near a streetcar line that transported passengers between downtown and suburbia. By the end of 1909, the newly-acquired Interlachen real estate was incorporated and named.

The renowned golf architect, William Watson, began designing the golf course after the land was officially purchased in March of 1910. In November of the same year, the clubhouse was constructed, and the country club was ready to open its doors on July 29, 2011.

The nine-hole course remained unchanged until 1919 when the time’s current accomplished golf architect submitted revisions at the behest of the Board of Governors. Since then, the Interlachen real estate surrounding the prestigious country club has witnessed several rebuilds and changes applied to the course and grounds. Interlachen homes for sale carry a certain draw because of the vast history the course has seen—not to mention the awards and commendations it has received over the last century.

The Twin Cities Business Monthly Magazine voted Interlachen as the Best Private Club. The International Wine Society of the Club Managers Association of American honored the club with an Award of Merit, and it’s held the Club Forum Magazine’s Platinum Award Status from 2003 until present.

Perhaps the true success of Interlachen Country Club is its ability to stay modern and meet its member’s desires. It has blossomed from a nine-hole course with a clubhouse to a club with tennis courts, family amenities, a fitness/spa center (with its own barbershop!), and a knack for producing exceptional golfers. In the area around Interlachen homes for sale certainly benefit from the club’s achievements.
